Katakura Silk

Japanese Rando-nerds were way ahead on geeking out on the French touring style of the great builders. Heavy on the geegaws, the Katakura Silk bikes seemed to steal equally from Singer, Herse and Schwinn Stingrays.

Though I have never some across a Silk in the wilds, they appear frequently on eBay. The full touring bikes look like they were outfitted for a great journey from a senior center rummage sale with a dimestore D-cell plastic flashlight, a cocktail shaker water bottle and the mega-laced panniers.

Though the touring bikes probably ride decent-if-heavy, I suspect the eBay find above is probably one of the worst riding bicycles ever made.
