Gazelle Vintage Road Bike with Modern Updates
A gorgeous bike that is a very smart build by long time friend of the store and our bicycle consigliere, Randy.
Gazelle frame that Randy imported from Holland - it still has the Dutch bicycle shop sticker where it was originally sold. Reynolds 531 frame and fork with a mix of modern and vintage components. Money is spent where it matters like Grand Bois tires. Indexed Tiagra 9-speed bar end drivetrain with vintage front derailleur. Modern external cup crankset but mercifully in silver. The modern upgrades like Tektro wide brake levers give you a much more comfortable riding position up on the hoods and the modern indexed bar end shifters means you aren't reaching down to fiddle with friction downtube shifters. These upgrades mean comfort and ease. The modern cranks and rear derailleur give you a wider range of gearing than one usually finds on vintage set-ups, meaning, easier to climb hills. Other bits - Nitto stem, Soma bars, Ti rail saddle, 105 hubs with Open Pros, etc. Extremely well priced at $695. Even if you were as smart as Randy, it would be hard to do this at double the price.
