Mercian Custom City Bike Build - Straddles the Burrito Slayer and Baguette Slayer Aesthetic

Super classy Mercian that arrived mostly in this state. Lots of bike nerd nerdery like a Technomic stem, VO cranks with drilled rings, XTR rear derailleur, etc. We went through the bike completely, changing some things as we went most notably switching from downtube shifters to Suntour Power Ratchet thumbies. Recabled, new shellac’d cork grips, Brooks B17, Panaracer 700 x 32s. Nice! 22” Medium $775 with Brooks, $650 with standard saddle.

All new stainless steel, pre-stretched cables

All new lined housing

New pedals

New Shellac'd Cork  grips

New tubes

New Pasela Panaracer tires

New Brooks B17 saddle

Size, seat tube: 22" Medium (CTT)

We call these bikes bageutte slayers, as they are the perfect city bike for casual errands, farmer's market runs, riding to work or bar hopping. Unlike the burrito slayer, which is based on a MTB chassis, the baguette slayer is based on a drop bar road bike. Has a straight back, heads-up, see over cars riding position but is going to be faster, more nimble, more twitchy and less forgiving of potholes.

Where the burrito slayer mountain bike conversions are burly, take anything thrown at them, the baguette slayers are more delicate and refined. Lighter weight too.
