If you have bemoaned, why can't I buy a simple road bike like the old days, this is it but better. Lug/TIG steel frame with lots of rack mounts including two sets on the fork. Down tube 9-speed friction to a nicer-than-you-think Sunrace MTB rear dérailleur on a 32t cassette. Lots of Soma, Sunrace, IRD components. Rides really nice!! 54 CM $600
