With the exception of the Drag Axle, the superchargers made by Turbonique were the most insane speed equipment ever made. Instead of relying on a belt or exhaust to spin up the impeller, the Turbonique burned rocket fuel to power a small turbine to provide boost. There is MUCH written on the internet about these beasts but our man Iowahawk sums it up best as The Real Acme - as in Wile E. Coyote super genius antics.
About 5 years ago, I purchased this Turbonique from a fellow on the HAMB. Perhaps I was intoxicated, but I just had to have one as they just don't appear for sale very often and it really is an artifact of the wild-eyed outlaws of the 60s and 70s. Nobody could manufacture something this crazy now. When I purchased it, I didn't really have an application for it and my interests have shifted away from bare-knuckle nutso 60's drag racing to more sports car, road racing pursuits and adventure truck off road exploration.
Comes with about 50 pages or so of documentation, manuals, technical drawings and period magazine articles. I am not sure how my documentation compares to the Rocketman documentation. Impellers look perfect. Bearings spin without issue. There is very little vertical play in the shaft and no side to side play.
The supercharger is not in the store as I am afraid some nitwit would grab it and make a run for it. If you are interested in seeing in person, let me know (firstname.lastname@example.org) and I will get it in the store.
Ships free in continental US; otherwise inquire. Price is quite firm, but, as always, trades are possible.
